• The air conditioning has diminished cooling levels: As is the case with many aspects of your BMW, you know what to expect with each AC setting, whether it be the fan speed or temperature. If you notice a loss of airflow or cold temperatures, the AC unit may need to be repaired due to various issues.
• Strange odors coming through the vents: Generally speaking, odd odors in your car point to a sign of potential trouble. If you notice an unfavorable smell emitting from the vents, it could be the result of an aged cabin filter. There’s also a possibility for things like mold to accumulate in certain circumstances.
• Unusual noises emit from the AC: Another tell-tale sign of a faulty air conditioning system, this is likely the result of the pulley bearing found in the AC’s compressor. When this piece wears out, it creates a squealing or grinding sound. Luckily, this issue can be fixed by replacing the bearing.
• Water pools form in the cabin: A fully-functioning air conditioning system will drain water from the bottom of a BMW car.
