BMW X3 Dashboard Light Guide
When driving around Meridian, Philadelphia, or Laurel, MS, in your BMW X3, it’s important to know what the various lights on your dashboard mean. From headlights to low tire pressure, these lights are here to give you a message about what’s going on in your vehicle. To make sure you know what your SUV is trying to tell you, we at BMW of Meridian put together this BMW X3 dashboard light guide.
Red Lights
Whenever you see a dashboard light in red, it’s probably connected to one of the main safety systems, such as safety belts, airbags, or the brake system.
For example, you’ll know there is an issue with your brake system if you see one of two lights. The first will look like an exclamation point inside a circle with parentheses on either side. This means that the braking system is impaired. You can keep driving but be careful and get it checked out soon.
The other is just the word BRAKE and means there is a serious problem with the brake system. When you see this, you’ll want to avoid driving and make an appointment to get the brake system checked out as soon as possible.
Yellow Lights
Lights that appear in yellow work as a warning for various systems in your BMW X3, such as:
- Anti-lock Braking System
- Dynamic Stability Control
- Tire Pressure Monitor
If there is a problem with the steering system, you will see a yellow light that looks like a little steering wheel with an exclamation point next to it. This means that the steering system might not be working, so you should pull over and get your SUV serviced as soon as possible.
There is also a yellow light for the Emissions system. When there is excessive misfiring in the engine, a light that looks like a little engine will appear. Whenever you see this, you should stop driving and get the system inspected. If left unchecked, this could lead to serious internal damage for your vehicle.
Green Lights
Green dashboard lights cover a variety of the outer vehicle lights. Your parking lights, headlights, turn signal, front fog lights, and High-beam Assistant will all appear in green.
Lane Departure Warning has a green light that looks like a bird’s-eye view of a car driving over a lane marker. This will appear if you’ve crossed over a lane marker. This is just to warn you that you should course correct to get back into your lane.
Automatic Hold also has a green light. This light just says AUTO H and lets you know that your vehicle has engaged the auto hold function while you were stationary.
Blue Lights
Only one light will appear in blue. Whenever your high beams are switched on, whether manually or by the High-beam Assistant, you’ll see a blue light that looks like a half circle with five lines coming out of it.
