530i
The first trim available in the BMW 5 Series lineup is the 530i. This car features a 2.0L BMW TwinPower Turbo 4-cylinder engine that is equipped to produce 248 horsepower. Add in the 8-speed Sport Automatic transmission with Sport and Manual shift modes and you have a sedan that is ready to eat up the pavement ahead.
A premium interior experience is also stock on the 530i. The HiFi Sound System with 205-watt digital amplifier and 12 speakers will ensure you are able to listen to your playlists with true sound quality.
The Live Cockpit Professional is also worth noting. This system features a 12.3-inch instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch central information display. These are equipped with features like navigation and Bluetooth®.
530i xDrive
If you are looking for similar performance to the 530i with added versatility, the 530i xDrive could be the right trim level for you. It comes with many of the same performance features but also comes with an added xDrive all-wheel drive system. This will equip the sedan to handle better in more adverse driving conditions.
You will also want to take note of the 16-way power front sport seats with 2-way power side bolsters, 4-way lumbar support, and memory system for the driver’s seating and steering wheel positions. Talk about comfort! This seating technology will enable you to find your ideal seating position, achieving supreme comfort.
540i
In the BMW 540i, you will want to observe the larger engine available to you. Coming stocked with a 3.0L BMW TwinPower Turbo 6-cylinder engine, this sedan is able to produce more power and provide you with more control (335 horsepower and 331 lb-ft of torque).
This engine configuration will enable you to go from 0-60 MPH in an impressive 4.9 seconds, which is a whole second faster than the 530i (0-60 MPH in 5.9 seconds).
Aside from the increased engine output, the 540i and 530i are quite similar. You will also receive a luxurious interior experience in this model with HD Radio™ a 2-way power glass moonroof, USB ports, and more!
540i xDrive
Again, if you are looking for added versatility behind the wheel, the 540i xDrive could be the sedan choice for you. This trim comes with the same engine specs as the 540i, but also adds the xDrive system observed in the 530i xDrive.
This combination will afford you with the most power and versatility that we have seen out of any of the 5 Series sedans so far; it’s able to handle inclement conditions at a moment’s notice.
Some other features in this trim include: Apple CarPlay®, Android Auto™, Comfort Access Keyless Entry.
530e
Next up is the 530e, which will again offer you a different engine configuration. While this model features the 2.0L BMW TwinPower Turbo 4-cylinder engine accustom to the 530i, it also ties in an eDrive electric motor. Together, these systems create a total power output of 288 horsepower.
Further, this model will equip you with more power under the hood.
As this model features an electric engine, there are quite a few additional features added. For instance, the J1772 AC Charging and eDrive button, which will help optimize for better performance. Additionally, these features are included: Occasional Use Charging Cable, 12 kWh High-Voltage Lithium-Ion Battery Pack.
Aside from this, your interior experience will be nearly identical to the 530i and 540i.
530e xDrive
Similar to the 530i xDrive and 540i xDrive models, the 530e xDrive features the same engine as its predecessor (530e). While you will receive the same engine performance, the xDrive all-wheel drive system is added to the powertrain. So, you will be better equipped to handle potentially slippery conditions that most sedans would struggle in.
If you enjoy the thrill of a partially electric powertrain with great versatility, this is definitely the sedan for you!
On the inside, you will have many comfort and convenience features at your fingertips. Just use the 3-spoke power telescopic, leather wrapped, multifunction sport steering wheel to use them safely and effectively.
M550i xDrive
Next up is the M550i xDrive BMW 5 Series sedan. This model is the most powerful we have seen yet, coming with a 4.4L BMW M TwinPower Turbo V8 engine that produces a whopping 523 horsepower and goes from 0-60 MPH in just 3.6 seconds. For even better performance, this model also comes with a sport exhaust system.
You will also see interior upgrades in the M550i xDrive. For example, your audio experience will be enhanced with the addition of the Harman Kardon® Surround Sound Audio System with a 464-watt amplifier and 16 speakers.
Additionally, this model comes with a Connected Package Professional bundle of features which will provide you with Real Time Traffic, Hazard Preview, Concierge Services, and more.
Which Trim is for Me?
Any of these seven trim options will provide you with a versatile and enjoyable ride. Which one suits you best depends entirely on your individual driving needs. If you’re looking for unmatched performance, the M550i xDrive is the way to go. Want something more suited for a business trip? Maybe the 530i is your best option.
